I joined this project while it was already ongoing. It was a difficult challenge for me to work on an engine (UEFN) that I had never worked on before, but we managed to create a great product in a short period.
I was assigned to the UI and UX of the project, and once I completed my tasks, I also helped with some devices, coding in Verse (UEFN coding language).
Before
First iteration
When I joined the team, I found a weak UI:
Important information too far from the center
Unbalanced, Too much information at the bottom left with the wrong dimensions
Unpleasing to the eye
So I started redesigning the UI:
Moving some elements like rank advancement and the kill counter, trying at first to the top left and then over the health bar.
I then tried to make it as accessible and symmetrical as possible, creating the health and shield bars that were visible without distracting too much attention from the game. I did the same for the weapons that were repositioned in the center.
Removing the armor in the lower left corner to put the icon of the character used by the player, to give the player a chance to identify more with their character
All these changes made the UI more balanced, accessible and more pleasing to the eye
